BurnHalla 2026 — Walking Through the Cold

In the middle of a dark and freezing Berlin winter — when every movement takes more effort, when fingers go numb faster and you really have to want it more than the cold wants you to stop — we gathered for another lovely mission: an excuse to meet, train, share and learn.

This time it was at BurnHalla, during the last weekend of the coldest January. The air was heavy and icy, but that didn’t stop us.
A few months before, we had already started with meetings and rigging tests. Preparing together is always part of the experience. Being part of a non-commercial 24-hour event, with thousands of people co-creating and making it happen, truly resonates with the values of the slackline community.

Even though the nerves were in the air, the main goal was to have fun. We rigged two parallel midlines, less than 40 meters long and high enough to be safe — but definitely not the easiest lines to walk. At least not for all of us…

The tension and length, plus the short backup and the LED lights, made them challenging. The cold didn’t make it softer. But challenge is part of why we do this.

And beyond the lines themselves, we did what slackliners do best: we danced together for hours, shared drinks and meals, exchanged feedback, laughed, supported each other and celebrated every step on the line.

One of our favorite moments is always looking down and seeing the faces of the crowd — some amazed, some cheering, and some completely freaking out, almost dying of fear because we are walking in the air. That mix of fear and fascination creates a very special connection.

We’re looking forward to summer in Berlin — to more outdoor sessions, more shared projects and more collective magic.
We deeply thank the Kiez Burn community, MaHalla — an amazing cultural space in Berlin — and everyone who enjoyed the experience with us. And also to those who were holding their breath while watching from below… you make it even more fun.

We walk the line, but we never walk it alone.
